Psychology is the scientific study of the mind, brain, and behaviour, one of the most complex and compelling subjects available at university level. It asks how we perceive, think, feel, and act, how our minds develop from infancy, how they are shaped by genetics and experience, and how they can be affected by disorder or damage. No two minds are quite alike, and the sources of that variation, biological, social, cultural, and biographical, are at the heart of what psychology investigates.

At London South Bank University, this three-year full-time programme covers the core areas of psychology, including biological, cognitive, developmental, social, and abnormal psychology, building the scientific literacy and research skills that a British Psychological Society accredited degree requires. You will learn to design studies, gather data, conduct statistical analysis, and interpret findings critically, developing the quantitative and qualitative methods that underpin evidence-based psychological practice. A year abroad is built into the programme, providing the opportunity to study in a different academic culture and to engage with how psychological research and practice operate in other national contexts.
Graduates from accredited psychology programmes obtain Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society, which is the prerequisite for further professional training as a psychologist. Many continue to postgraduate study in clinical, counselling, educational, forensic, or occupational psychology. Others build careers in human resources, social research, healthcare, education, marketing, and a wide range of other fields where understanding human behaviour is an asset.
