Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour, drawing on methods from neuroscience, statistics, developmental biology, and philosophy to address questions that are both deeply personal and profoundly social. Why do people act the way they do under stress? How does memory work, and why does it fail?

What distinguishes normal from disordered thinking? These are not merely academic puzzles; they matter for how we design workplaces, raise children, structure healthcare, and understand human relationships.

This programme at London South Bank University is designed for students who are passionate about psychology but benefit from a more guided entry into degree-level study. The foundation year provides a structured academic preparation that builds the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the subsequent three years of the programme. You will study the core domains of psychology, including cognitive, social, developmental, biological, and clinical psychology, alongside research methods and statistics, which are central to the discipline and to professional accreditation.

The programme runs over four years in total, full-time.

Graduates of psychology degrees are equipped for a wide range of careers. Some go on to postgraduate training in clinical, counselling, educational, or occupational psychology, qualifying as registered psychologists. Others enter roles in human resources, social work, market research, mental health support, education, and the civil service, where an understanding of human behaviour is a considerable advantage.
