Psychology with Linguistics

Psychology with linguistics is a degree that brings together two sciences of the mind and communication. Psychology examines human mental states, processes, and behaviour through rigorous empirical research, asking how we perceive, learn, remember, feel, and relate to one another. Linguistics studies language itself, examining how sounds, words, and sentences are structured, how meaning is communicated, and how language varies across social groups and changes over time.

At the University of Warwick, this three-year full-time degree maintains a strong practical research focus, developing your ability to design and conduct empirical studies in both psychology and linguistics. You will engage with psycholinguistics, the cognitive processes underlying language comprehension and production, alongside the broader domains of experimental psychology, cognitive science, and sociolinguistics. Graduates of psychology with linguistics programmes find careers in speech and language research, educational psychology, human-computer interaction, natural language processing, market research, user experience design, clinical psychology, education, and a range of other fields where understanding language and human cognition matters.
