About this course

Robotics and embedded systems engineering addresses the design and construction of physical systems that sense, process, and act on the world around them. Robots and embedded systems are not abstract software constructs: they are physical devices in which software, electronics, sensors, and actuators must work together in real time under real constraints of power, weight, reliability, and safety. This integration of computing, engineering, and artificial intelligence is at the heart of some of the most transformative technologies of our era, from autonomous vehicles and industrial automation to medical devices, drones, and smart infrastructure.

At Aberystwyth this three-year full-time programme covers a wide range of topics that together provide the foundation for building and operating physical computerised systems. You will study mathematics, programming, artificial intelligence, robotics, software engineering, electronics, and control systems, developing both theoretical understanding and practical hands-on skills in building systems involving computerised sensing and control.
