About this course

Studying topics in Sociology, Politics and Economics provides you with a greater understanding of the world around you. BA Social Sciences is a three-year degree, or four years with an optional placement or study abroad year. Combining three interconnected social science disciplines, this course explores how societies function, how political decisions are made, and how economies shape people's lives.

You’ll develop a broad understanding of the social, political, and economic forces that influence contemporary issues at local, national, and global levels. In a liberal society, can limitations on freedom of speech ever be justified? Do people cooperate because they want to, or because they have to?

Political, economic, and social issues shape both daily life and the future of societies around the world. This course gives you the tools to understand and analyse these complex questions. By studying Sociology, Politics and Economics together, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of democracy and government, economic systems and decision-making, and the social structures that shape human behaviour and wellbeing.
