Social Work

Social work is a profession committed to working with some of the most vulnerable members of society, supporting individuals and families through crisis, advocating for those whose rights are at risk, and contributing to the systems and policies that shape social welfare. At the University of Sunderland, this three-year full-time programme is approved by Social Work England, the regulating body for the profession, and leads to a qualification that enables you to register as a social worker. You will study the law, policy, and theory that underpin social work practice, developing your understanding of child protection, adult safeguarding, mental health legislation, and the organisational contexts in which social workers operate.
