About this course

Software engineering is concerned with the disciplined, systematic development of software: not just writing code, but understanding how to design, build, test, maintain and evolve complex software systems reliably. The discipline draws on computer science, mathematics and principles of engineering to address the challenge of producing software that works correctly, can be maintained over time and meets the needs of its users. As software becomes embedded in virtually every aspect of modern life, the ability to engineer it well has become one of the most sought-after technical skills in the economy.

At Coventry University, this three-year full-time programme develops your skills across a range of core areas including full stack development, programming, data science and security. You will learn to design and implement software systems, to work within professional development practices and to engage with the technical challenges that real-world engineering environments present. The programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad and a work placement, giving you extensive professional and international experience before you graduate.
