Spanish and International Relations

Spanish and International Relations is a degree that trains you to understand the world both linguistically and analytically. Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world by number of native speakers, the official language of twenty countries across Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa, and a major global language of commerce, culture and diplomacy. International relations, meanwhile, provides the conceptual frameworks for understanding how states interact, how conflicts arise and are managed, how international institutions function, and how global challenges such as inequality, climate change and migration are governed.

At the University of Westminster, the programme focuses specifically on questions of governance, democracy and human rights, which means your international relations study is oriented around some of the most important political and ethical questions of our time. You will develop your Spanish language skills to a professionally competent level while also building a rigorous understanding of international political theory, comparative politics and the contemporary global order.
