Sport Coaching

Sport coaching is a discipline that takes seriously both the science of athletic development and the art of effective human relationships. At its best, coaching is about creating the conditions in which athletes can learn, grow, and perform, and it requires knowledge of exercise physiology and biomechanics alongside insight into motivation, group dynamics, communication, and the psychology of performance. The most effective coaches combine evidence-based practice with sensitivity to the individual athletes and teams they work with.

At the University of Brighton, this three-year, full-time programme includes a sandwich year and a work placement, giving you direct experience of coaching in real sporting environments as an integral part of the degree.
