About this course

Statistics is the mathematical discipline concerned with collecting, analysing, interpreting, and presenting data. It provides the methods by which evidence is evaluated and uncertainty is quantified, underpinning scientific research, medical trials, economic forecasting, quality control, and the increasingly data-driven decisions made across every sector of the modern economy. As the volume of data available for analysis has grown dramatically and the tools for working with it have become more powerful, the demand for people with rigorous statistical training has never been higher.

At the University of Glasgow, this four-year full-time BSc develops deep competence in the mathematical and computational foundations of statistics. You will study probability theory, statistical inference, regression modelling, and data analysis, building the rigorous mathematical grounding that distinguishes a statistician from someone who simply runs software.
