Urban Planning, Design and Management

Urban planning, design, and management is the discipline concerned with how cities and communities are shaped: how land use is regulated, how transport networks are planned, how housing is provided, how public spaces are designed, and how the competing interests of residents, businesses, and governments are negotiated. Urbanisation is one of the defining processes of the modern era, with the majority of the world's population now living in cities, and planners are among the key professionals responsible for making those cities function well, be sustainable, and be places where people genuinely want to live.

At University College London, which has one of the leading planning and built environment faculties in the world, this three-year full-time degree gives you a rigorous grounding in planning theory, urban design, spatial analysis, development economics, housing policy, and planning law. You will develop both analytical skills, including GIS and quantitative methods, and design and communication skills, learning to present spatial proposals as well as to evaluate policy options.
