At the University of Suffolk the programme is built around extensive fieldwork from the very first weeks, with immersive wildlife surveying experiences in the Scottish Highlands forming part of the early curriculum. Students progress to working in some of the most biodiverse ecosystems on earth, including field studies of large mammal conservation in South Africa and primate and reptile ecology in the Amazon Rainforest. This practical foundation gives you genuine field skills and international ecological experience that complement your academic development in ecology, wildlife survey techniques, population dynamics, habitat management and conservation policy.

The programme runs over three years full time and includes a sandwich year and work placement opportunities, reinforcing your professional preparation.

Graduates of wildlife, ecology and conservation science programmes move into careers in conservation organisations, national parks and nature reserves, environmental consultancies, government agencies, wildlife trusts, research institutes and international development organisations. Roles include wildlife ecologist, conservation officer, environmental impact assessor, field biologist and biodiversity officer.
