About this course

Our MSci course is ideal if you want to continue in research or to stand out when applying for a PhD or employment.In your first year, you will gain broad training in biomedical sciences and will begin to study the cellular and molecular basis of human diseases as well as basic biochemistry, cell biology, pathology, microbiology and virology.In your second year, you will study molecular genetics and learn skills in recombinant DNA technology, which underpin research in many cutting-edge laboratories.Our eBiolabs dynamic laboratory manual will help you prepare for practical laboratory sessions in the first and second year.In the third year, you will choose options from various units which reflect our research strengths in the areas of cancer biology, stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, and infection and immunology.The additional, fourth year includes an extended research project and research skills training with an emphasis on enterprise.
