About this course

Sport marketing sits at the intersection of one of the world's most emotionally engaged industries and one of the most commercially sophisticated disciplines. From fan engagement and sponsorship to media rights, branding, and data-driven campaigns, sport is marketed in ways that are often at the cutting edge of commercial communications. This BA degree explores how sport is marketed in a disruptive digital world, studying both the marketing of sport and the use of sport in wider commercial marketing, developing a clear understanding of how the industry operates.

At Leeds Beckett University, this three-year full-time programme develops your knowledge of marketing theory and practice in the specific context of sport, covering brand strategy, digital and social media marketing, sponsorship, fan engagement, sports broadcasting, and the global business of sport. You will develop analytical and creative skills alongside a deep understanding of the sport industry as a commercial and cultural phenomenon. The programme includes a sandwich year with a year abroad and work placement, giving you direct professional experience in sport marketing and international exposure to how sport is commercialised in different markets.

Entry typically requires around 120 UCAS tariff points.

Graduates work in sport marketing agencies, sports clubs and governing bodies, sponsorship and brand management, media rights, event management, fan experience and digital engagement, and in the broader marketing and communications industry where a sport context is central to the role. The data literacy and campaign skills the degree develops are also valued in marketing and communications roles beyond the sport sector.
