THE DOOR: ENTRY DIFFICULTY TODAY, graded A (easy) to E (extremely hard). A Careermash rule-of-thumb index built from our AI exposure index and the job's moat class. It is not a forecast and not a count of job openings.

AI EXPOSURE TODAY is a Careermash index from 0 to 100 of how exposed this job's everyday tasks are to AI today. We estimate it by matching published research on how people use AI to this job, usually by keyword or subject area, and we lower it where the work is protected (for example by physical, personal or legal requirements). It is not a direct measurement of how much people in this job use AI.

This job holds up well against AI
AI exposure today is modest on our index (30), and the law requires human oversight. That human could be you. That is about as safe as careers get right now, though it is still worth learning to use the tools well.

The role

As a clinical governance and information manager, you help make healthcare safer and better. You collect information about how hospitals and clinics work, spot problems, and suggest improvements that keep patients safe.

Your day might include looking at patient records to find trends, meeting with doctors and nurses to check they're following safety rules, training staff on the right procedures, and writing reports for hospital leaders. You need to be good with numbers and data, but also good at explaining things clearly to busy clinical staff. The work is behind the scenes, but it has a real impact - when you spot a problem and fix it, patients get better care.

Daily responsibilities

  • Develop and implement clinical governance frameworks to enhance patient safety.
  • Analyze health data to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct audits and reviews of clinical practices and policies.
  • Facilitate training sessions for healthcare staff on governance and information management.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Engage with patients and the public to gather feedback and improve services.
