Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Bricklayer
As a Junior Bricklayer, you will assist experienced bricklayers on-site, learning the trade and gaining hands-on experience. Your responsibilities will include basic bricklaying tasks and site preparation.
Mid-Level Bricklayer
In a Mid-Level role, you will take on more complex projects, working independently and supervising junior staff. You will be expected to manage your workload and ensure quality standards are met.
Senior Bricklayer
As a Senior Bricklayer, you will lead projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Your expertise will be crucial in high-stakes projects, and you may also liaise with clients and architects.
