Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Potter
As a Junior Potter, you will assist in the pottery studio, learning the basics of clay preparation, throwing, and glazing under the guidance of experienced potters.
Mid-Level Potter
In this role, you will independently create pieces, manage your own projects, and begin to establish your brand in the pottery community.
Senior Potter
As a Senior Potter, you will lead projects, mentor junior potters, and have a significant presence in exhibitions and galleries, influencing trends in the ceramics industry.
