Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Driving Instructor
Start your journey as a driving instructor by obtaining your ADI qualification. You'll gain hands-on experience teaching learners and building your confidence.
Mid-Level Driving Instructor
With a few years of experience, you can expand your client base and potentially specialise in areas such as advanced driving or instructor training.
Senior Driving Instructor
At this level, you may take on roles such as training new instructors or managing a driving school, significantly increasing your earning potential.
