Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Foster Carer
As a junior foster carer, you will begin your journey by providing care under the supervision of an experienced fostering agency. You will learn the ropes of fostering while supporting children in a stable environment.
Mid-Level Foster Carer
In a mid-level role, you will take on more responsibilities, including mentoring new foster carers and working closely with social services to ensure the best outcomes for children in your care.
Senior Foster Carer
As a senior foster carer, you will lead initiatives within your fostering agency, advocate for policy changes, and provide training to other carers, all while ensuring high standards of care for the children.
