Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Hairdresser/Barber
As a junior hairdresser or barber, you will assist senior stylists, learn essential techniques, and build your client base. This stage focuses on developing your skills and gaining hands-on experience in a salon environment.
Mid-Level Hairdresser/Barber
At this level, you will have established a loyal clientele and be responsible for providing a full range of services. You may also mentor junior staff and contribute to salon management.
Senior Hairdresser/Barber
As a senior professional, you will lead a team, manage salon operations, and potentially own your own business. Your expertise will be sought after, and you will be a key influencer in the industry.
