Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Judge
Junior judges typically start in lower courts, gaining experience in presiding over cases and making judgements under the guidance of more senior judges.
Mid-Level Judge
Mid-level judges handle more complex cases and may begin to specialise in certain areas of law, contributing to legal opinions and mentoring junior judges.
Senior Judge
Senior judges preside over the most significant cases, influence legal standards, and may take on administrative responsibilities within the judiciary.
