Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Massage Therapist
As a junior massage therapist, you will assist in providing basic massage treatments under supervision, gaining practical experience and building your client base.
Mid-Level Massage Therapist
In a mid-level role, you will independently manage client appointments, offer a range of treatments, and begin to develop your own brand within the industry.
Senior Massage Therapist
As a senior therapist, you will lead a team, develop treatment programmes, and potentially run your own practice, focusing on client retention and business growth.
