Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Plasterer
As a Junior Plasterer, you will assist experienced plasterers, learning the trade while gaining hands-on experience. You will be involved in basic plastering tasks and gradually take on more responsibility.
Mid-Level Plasterer
In this role, you will work independently on a variety of projects, applying your skills to both new builds and renovations. You will be expected to manage your time effectively and ensure high-quality finishes.
Senior Plasterer
As a Senior Plasterer, you will lead projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure that all work meets industry standards. You may also be involved in estimating project costs and liaising with clients.
