Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Shunter
As a Junior Shunter, you will assist in moving freight wagons and learn the basics of railway operations under the supervision of experienced staff.
Mid-Level Shunter
In this role, you will take on more responsibilities, including coordinating movements and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Senior Shunter
As a Senior Shunter, you will oversee shunting operations, train junior staff, and ensure the highest safety standards are maintained.
