About this course
This degree combines the best aspects of the separate mathematics and physics degrees, offering enhanced flexibility, increased choice and the opportunity to pursue some of the most interesting and relevant questions that are pervasive in society, technology, the world and, indeed, the universe. This degree provides a unique combination of factors: pure science with infinite intrigue awaiting a curious mind, and a hugely valuable and employable skill set enabling a broad range of possible future careers. Physics at Queen's was ranked 3rd in the country for research intensity in the United Kingdom's most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise, as published by the Times Higher Education. We participate in the IAESTE and Turing student exchange programmes, which enable students to obtain work experience in companies and universities throughout the world. This degree is accredited by the Institute of Physics (IoP).
