BA History and Heritage explores the social and political forces that shape encounters with history in everyday life and the history behind the heritage. BA History and Heritage is a three-year undergraduate degree, with optional placement or study abroad opportunities to extend your studies. This degree at University of Essex allows you to explore the past across a wide range of periods, regions and themes. You will examine political change, social movements, cultural developments and global events, while also exploring how history is preserved and interpreted through heritage. You will build strong analytical, research and communication skills throughout your studies. History and heritage helps you understand how the world has been shaped and how past events continue to influence the present. This course combines academic depth with a flexible, research-led approach that allows you to follow your interests across different historical periods, regions and heritage contexts. You will explore topics such as revolution and empire, war and conflict, identity and culture, and global history in a connected world, alongside how heritage is understood and represented.
