About this course
Pure mathematics and statistics together represent two complementary ways of engaging with one of humanity's most powerful tools for understanding the world. Pure mathematics is concerned with the structure and logic of mathematical systems themselves, exploring abstract concepts such as number theory, analysis, algebra, and topology with rigour and precision. Statistics, by contrast, turns mathematical reasoning outward onto the world, providing the methods needed to collect, analyse, and interpret data in ways that support sound conclusions about everything from clinical trials to economic policy. At Aberystwyth, this three-year full-time programme allows you to develop fluency in both traditions. You will study the formal structures and proofs that underpin advanced mathematics alongside the practical techniques of data collection, classification, analysis, and interpretation that de
