The role

As a conveyancing assistant, you help solicitors manage the paperwork when people buy or sell houses. You prepare documents like contracts and deeds, check that everything is filled in correctly, and make sure nothing gets missed. It is detail work - one small mistake can cause real problems or hold things up.

Your days mix office work with talking to people. You will answer questions from clients and other staff, explaining what is happening in their sale or purchase. You will also run property searches to check things like whether there are any problems with the land or building. You keep careful records of each case so that nothing gets lost or forgotten.

Daily responsibilities

  • Assist solicitors in preparing and reviewing legal documents related to property transactions.
  • Communicate with clients, estate agents, and mortgage lenders to gather necessary information.
  • Conduct property searches and due diligence to identify any potential issues affecting the transaction.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and records, ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
  • Prepare and send out contracts and other documentation to clients and relevant parties.
  • Schedule appointments and manage timelines to ensure transactions are completed efficiently.
  • Handle client queries and provide updates on the progress of transactions.
  • Support the team with administrative tasks to enhance overall workflow and productivity.
