Periodontist

The role

As a periodontist, you are a dental specialist who focuses on the gums and the bone that holds teeth in place. You diagnose gum disease, treat it with both simple and surgical methods, and teach people how to keep their gums healthy so they don't lose their teeth.

Your day involves examining patients' gums carefully, using X-rays and special tools to check for disease, creating treatment plans, doing procedures to clean teeth and gums or repair damaged gum tissue, and explaining to patients why good oral hygiene matters. You work closely with regular dentists and sometimes refer patients on for other care. This job requires precision, patience with nervous patients, and the ability to explain dental health in a way people understand so they'll look after their teeth at home.

Daily responsibilities

• Conduct thorough examinations to assess gum health and diagnose periodontal diseases.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans, including scaling, root planing, and surgical interventions.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and the importance of periodontal health.
• Collaborate with general dentists and other specialists to provide comprehensive dental care.

• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with health regulations.
