Optometry is the healthcare profession responsible for examining eyes, detecting and managing visual disorders, and prescribing optical and therapeutic interventions. Optometrists are primary eyecare practitioners, often the first clinician a patient sees when their vision changes or their eyes are unwell. The discipline combines clinical science, anatomy and physiology, optics, pharmacology, and patient care, demanding both technical precision and the communication skills to support patients with what is often an anxiety-provoking aspect of their health.
