Sustainability and environmental management addresses some of the most pressing challenges facing societies today. From the loss of biodiversity and the degradation of soils and freshwater systems to the management of waste streams and the transition to lower-carbon economies, these problems require professionals who can think across scientific disciplines and engage with the social, economic, and political dimensions of environmental change. The field brings together ecology, earth science, geography, and policy analysis, and demands people who can work comfortably with data, fieldwork, and stakeholder communication alike.
